Dental Implants Abroad

Dental Implants Abroad

What are dental implants abroad?

A dental implant is a screw-like device that acts as a base for an artificial tooth. Simply put, a dental implant replaces a missing natural tooth and its root. Their nature is purely artificial and their role restorative. Compared to dentures, bridges and crowns, dental implants are a popular and effective long-term solution for people who suffer from missing teeth, failing teeth or chronic dental problems.

Dental implants abroad procedure step by step

There are several steps involved in getting this type of dental surgery, here you can find more details about this dental procedure. It starts with an assessment from a dentist prescribing a dental implant.

After everything, planning stage begins. For your information, a patient needs 2 visits for a full procedure. The dental surgery will be the first step, followed by the second step – dental crowns.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Starting with your implant dentist will discuss various implant options and develop a plan for your implant surgery after a thorough examination of your mouth, including taking X-rays or 3D images.

Step 2: Bone Grafting And Teeth Removal

Before everything, dental implant surgery is also performed in two stages. 1 – the damaged tooth is removed & 2 – the jawbone is prepared for surgery. At this point, bone grafting may take place.

What is a bone graft and why you might need one? A bone graft is a procedure that replaces and regenerates lost bone, and can also restore proper facial contour.

If your jawbone isn’t thick enough or is too soft, you may need bone grafting before you can have dental implant surgery.

Step 3: Implant Placement

In the same fashion, the implant placement procedure itself consists of several steps. 1st – is to make an incision in the gum to expose the bone. 2nd – a hole is drilled where the tooth implant is to be placed in the jaw.
As a result, the implant itself is screwed into place. After you’ve had the implant placed in your jawbone, healing process can take up to five months for the lower jaw and up to seven months for the upper jaw.

Step 4: Placing The Temporary Crown

Under those circumstances, it can take up to 5 months for your lower jawbone to heal & 7 months for the upper jawbone to heal. Once your bone is healed and has fused with the implants, you’ll get something called a healing collar.

In addition, you may also need a temporary crown. In order to place the temporary crown, the dentist will use a local anesthetic. Usually, the effect lasts for up to 4 hours.

Step 5: Placing The Abutment

Once your tissue is healed, the dental professional will remove the healing collar and place the abutment. Therefore, the oral surgeon would have to reopen your gum to access the dental implant. Then, the abutment will be attached.
Consequently, around 7 days will be needed for the gum tissue to be completely healed. In conclusion, this marks the end of the surgery. Therefore, it’s time to get the crowns made.

Step 6: Placing The Permanent Crown

Now for the final stage of the procedures — placing the crown. A tooth crown is about the same size as a tooth cap and it is designed in such a way that it will cover the visible area of the tooth and gives the tooth its original size and shape back. It will also be stronger than ever before.

The result is a strong, natural-looking tooth that is more than capable of withstanding all of the toughest tests a tooth could face. The crown is fixed to the tooth using high-quality dental cement.
