Table of Contents

What is dental tourism?

Dental tourism is about people travelling abroad with the purpose of accessing medical treatment. This includes cheaper and more available air travel and cross-border communication through the Internet.

It is never late to restore your smile, whether you lost your teeth two weeks ago or twenty years ago. Every year over 50,000 people in the UK travel overseas for medical treatment – and 40% of these do so for the sake of their teeth.

A survey by the consumer association “Which?” found that dentistry is one of the most popular types of planned treatment for UK residents. Join them and achieve the smile you wish through Mediwhere.

Whether you need, it’s all here:

  • dental implants
  • veneers
  • crowns
  • invisalign braces
  • teeth whitening

First thing to remember, Romania has become a major power in terms of dental tourism over the last decade. So, we decided to create a dental tourism guide, for you to have all the information needed in one place.

In other words, if you need top-quality dental care and you find the favourable price-value ratio important, turn to Romanian dental clinics with trust.

Accordingly to RNCOS' latest research report "Romania Dental Market Analysis", Romania has emerged as one of the best cosmetic dentistry destinations globally.

More and more people are visiting Romania to seek dental treatments that are cheaper than in their own homelands. Furthermore, cosmetic dentistry is a special segment that is about 10% of all dental procedures in Romania. Although it is considered a luxury service in the country, the percentage is growing due to the growing awareness of patients.

RNCOS has identified that Romania is highly specialized in delivering dental care services as per the international standards.

Main arguments are:

  • a Romanian valuable specialty educational system, retrieved in eleven profiled universities;
  • quality standards and low prices;
  • many and varied opportunities to practice at the same time leisure and recreation tourism;

Transylvania travel guide

Cluj-Napoca is well-known in the national and international community for being an university and medical hub. Hundreds of Italians, French, Spanish, Dutch, British, Americans, and many others are visiting Cluj-Napoca every year for a dental treatment.

Transylvania is the largest region of Romania and the best-known one.  Moreover, when you visit Transylvania you dive into a mix of cultures, nature, and history.

This region is rich in myth and medieval sites: there about 100 castles and fortresses and about 70 fortified churches. Peles Castle is recognized as a masterpiece of German neo-Renaissance architecture. The grand castle was built at the wish of King Carol I (1839–1914), the first Romanian King, and was meant as a summer retreat.

Given their importance, two of these historic attractions have been included in UNESCO heritage:

  • the Citadel of Sighișoara which is among the best-preserved still-inhabited citadels in Europe
  • the nearby group of 7 villages with fortified churches also known as the Saxon villages in Transylvania

Corvin Castle, known as Hunyadi Castle, is one of the most beautiful castles in Romania and one of the largest castles in Europe. Also, its construction began in 1440, and it was designed as a defense fortress against the Ottoman Empire.

The Carpathian mountains aren’t far away, one of Europe’s most beautiful, least exploited regions for walking. Hikes in the stunning FagarasApuseni and Retezat ranges can last several days.

Bukovina travel guide

Bukovina is among the most attractive and visited tourist areas in Romania. This area, worldwide famous today, received in 1975 the international award “Pomme d’Or” from the International Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers.

The churches with external mural paintings of northern Moldavia, built from the late 15th century to the late 16th century, are masterpieces inspired by Byzantine art. These eight churches  of northern Moldavia are unique in Europe. They are authentic and particularly well preserved

Far from being mere wall decorations, the paintings form a systematic covering on all the facades and represent complete cycles of religious themes. Their exceptional composition, the elegance of the characters, and the harmony of the colors blend perfectly with the surrounding countryside.

Citadel of Suceava, is located on the eastern edge of the medieval city of Suceava (north-eastern Romania). Moreover, it’s the most significant and best preserved medieval site, that is closely linked with the history of the Principality of Moldavia.

Bukovina Village Museum is the youngest of the open-air museums in Romania.The general image of Bukovina Village Museum reflects the organization and the complex activity of the traditional village.

Rarau-Giumalau Mountains represent a massif situated in the North of the Oriental Carpathians, between Moldova and Bistriţa Valleys, and they pertain to the Bucovina Mountains.
